Paralympic Closing Ceremony 6/8/12

Only two days until the ceremony!

So last Sunday we had a mini makeup rehearsal with only a few dancers to see what the makeup would look like and today was a full on rehearsal!

We went to Dagenham (took three tubes and a shuttle bus to get there!) and arrived at what looked like an abandoned air field of some kind. There was a massive blue and yellow circus tent (not even sure why) that costume and makeup got ready in, along with three or four other tents and ours was so squished! Each person had their own colour scheme so we made the lips and the eyes according to that colour, which matched up with what they wore. There were 60 women to do and seven of us, I applied the makeup quickly, I'm sure I did about 8-10 women! We did the makeup for Rio, the flag hand over to Brazil so it was so amazing we get to be a big part of the ceremony.

There were some amazing costumes and acrobatic stunts being performed and we were able to sit and watch. It was such a gorgeous day too I won't forget!

I couldn't upload photos just yet- but wait and see.

MAC Marilyn Monroe Limited Edition Collection

MAC Marilyn Collection

Only one month until this collection is due to be in shops in Britain (we've waited long enough!) and it's going to sell like cupcakes!

There has been a lot of negativity towards the packaging, but I think it looks sexy and sleek! I love the black and white (also relevant because she was in black and white film) and her signature shade- red.

Can't believe there hasn't been a Monroe line already!

Her makeup was famous and sworn to secrecy by her makeup artist. Although I do know she would enhance her eyes with the two flicks of eyeliner on the outer corners and make her nose appear slimmer by applying a darker shade under the tip, line her lips so they are fuller and dot on that most iconic beauty spot.

I almost wish there was a pen just for that.

Marilyn Monroe Products

So let's get to the products.

Of course there will be her signature red, this one is called 'Scarlet Ibis' (second from the left) a true matte pillar box red, a true 50s red lipstick. 'Zen' first on the left, a creamy pale nude which would be so flattering for fairer skins, 'Love Goddess' third from the left, a satin mid-tone pinky red, 'Deeply Adored' a deep matte scarlet and 'Charmed...I'm Sure' a dark matte true red.

MAC is famous for their lipsticks so I can only hope these live up to the hype!

Ooh look at these!

Well of course you have to buy a lip liner to match your lipstick. Getting the shape of the lips first is the most important bit. There is 'Beet', a vivid reddish-pink which partners up with 'Love Goddess', 'Redd' a true red with 'Scarlet Ibis' and 'Cherry' a darker shade with 'Charmed...I'm Sure'.

Dazzleglass comes in two shades- 'Phiff!' a sheer yellow peach and 'Little Rock' a sheer white with a pearl finish. These may be very sheer and hardly have any pigment so try these before you buy.

False Lashes mascara is in this collection too and MAC aren't highly talked about for their mascaras. I've tried the 'Zoom Lash' and it was okay but I wouldn't purchase it again. I heard this one isn't too bad though.

The liner (Rapidblack). There HAD to be intense black eye liner, no collection would be the same without it! I love the name, it's almost saying I need liner and I need it now!

There is also a white eyeliner to place on the lower water line to make your eyes appear larger, a brow pen, a brow fix and a black kohl 'Smoulder'.

The Eye Powder

I cant wait to try these! Nor too shimmery or glittery or matte, the Veluxe pearl formulas come together giving us these 'to die for' shades!

(From the left) 'How to Marry' a soft white to apply on the inner corner of the eye, 'Preferred Blonde' a  lovely champagne colour to apply over the lid, 'Silver Screen' a touch of silver and 'Showgirl' (that she was) a darker grey blue.

These four shades will compliment each other, and there is a million ways to use them!

What's that?

'Forever Marilyn'. A handy semi-sheer powder compact to keep in your purse (there's only one shade!) to use all over or as a highlighter on the cheeks.

'Legendary' is a soft coral powder blush with a satin finish and 'The Perfect Pink Cheek' a neutral pinky beige powder blush with a matte finish.

Nails too???

No Hollywood star would be complete without their nails! They come in luxurious reds and a glamorous gold; 'Vintage Vamp' a rich wine red, 'Stage Red' a deep berry red, 'Flaming Rose' a true red, 'Kid Orange' a coral and 'Rich, Rich, Rich' the gold.

Flash those lashes with no.35!

These lashes look simply adoreable because they look nor too long or thick, but soft and feminine, tapered at the ends, emphasizing the middle of the eye.

Can't wait to try. Hope you're all excited as I am and a bit more clued up on what you want to buy!
